The Training Mantra is our fundamental formula to follow when training a Juicer. Following the Training Mantra will ensure that all Juicers are confident in their new role, and ensure they reach the desired skills to become a capable Juicer.
At JOE & THE JUICE it is required that we are adaptable to any situation. Our product range is continuously being developed and updated to stay relevant, so to give everyone a chance for success, we offer a bite sized training approach to everyone wanting to be a part of the team. All new employees deserve the same opportunity for growth - that’s why it is crucial for all Trainers to follow the training mantra in any given Juicer module training.
When training a Juicer module, both the trainer and the Juicer must follow this process step by step: First, complete the relevant Attensi modules. Then, receive practical training alongside the trainer. After that, practice the training. Finally, the Juicer must be validated in the module. Only after a successful validation can training for the next station or module begin. Step by step, all the way!
At Joe & The Juice, training isn’t just about learning skills—it’s about Growth. A strong training environment means that trainees not only receive instructions but actively engage in learning, ensuring they feel included and confident in taking on responsibility. Trainers play a key role in guiding trainees through the learning process by applying Directive and Supportive Behavior at the right moments.
The Juicer/Trainer model illustrates this journey. Understanding when to apply Directive and Supportive Behavior helps trainers progress through this model effectively.
This step involves providing clear instructions, demonstrating tasks, and setting expectations. At the start of training, Juicers benefit from having a clear structure of what they need to learn, and letting them feel a sense of confidence to feel comfortable in their role.
This step ensures that information is not just heard but processed and understood.
Directive training plays a crucial role when training On-Top. Trainees absorb information and benefit from clear guidance. This structured approach promotes Inclusion, ensuring that every juicer starts from the same place.
This step involves stepping back, asking questions, and encouraging independent thinking. As trainees gain experience, opportunities for problem-solving and confidence-building become more important.
This approach becomes essential in the Practice Period, where trainees transition from following instructions to applying skills independently. A supportive trainer fosters a culture of Positive Attitude, where progress is the goal, rather than perfection.
A great trainer knows when to step in and guide, and when to step back and let the trainee work on their own. Giving clear instructions helps trainees learn the basics, while offering support and encouragement builds strong team bonds and a culture of learning and growth.
By mixing both styles—teaching and supporting—training at Joe & The Juice becomes more than just learning skills. It helps create confident, independent team members ready to grow and succeed.
In order to make the training journey as smooth as possible for the new Juicer, it is important to understand all stages of the Juicer’s development. Following is the full employment journey for the first 3 months. It is the Trainer’s responsible to ensure the new Juicers onboarding, training and development is carried out according to the below steps:
In JOE & THE JUICE we believe that a structured onboarding process is essential to ensure that new employees successfully transition into their new job.
A structured onboarding should provide the employee with the necessary information, alignment of expectations and resources to feel confident and to become an engaged member of your team, while also fostering a positive and welcoming work environment.
In JOE & THE JUICE we consider the first 6 months of an employee’s life cycle the onboarding phase.
The following structure outlines the in-store onboarding structure for new team members and should be carried out by either the BM or RM, hereafter named The Onboarder.
A first impression is according to studies made after only 30 seconds.
Researchers at New York University found that first impressions are hard to shake, even when subsequent information contradicts those initial impressions. Participants in the study continued to rate a person as less trustworthy, likable, and competent even when they were presented with information that contradicted their initial impression.
Therefore, it is paramount that the Onboarder is well prepared for the welcome of a new Juicer. Additionally, to ensure a seamless onboarding experience for the new Juicer, it is recommended to schedule their first day of work during a low revenue day, preferably on a Monday Palermo shift.
How to make a great first impression:

Both the Juicer and The Onboarder will be assigned 1 hour on-top each. During this hour The Onboarder will take the Juicer through 6 steps.
It is important the new employee is aware of what you are expecting of them and their work. Ensure to use the below points in your conversation, which have already been introduced through their online onboarding;
Explain “The Basics” as set out below:
A Touch base is a short meeting of 15 minutes with the Juicer. When having touch base meetings, it is The Onboarders chance to follow up with the Juicer and to make sure the Juicer will feel heard/listened to. This is a key factor when onboarding new employees. It contributes to an onboarding progress where the Juicer will feel acknowledged, included, and heard. Finish all meetings by introducing the agenda for the next meeting.
