Training

Back

We always strive to offer everyone the possibility to grow – either vertically through the leadership path in our Moneyball or horizontally, specializing in a specific area of expertise.

We acknowledge that everyone is different and our training philosophy compliments various styles of learning, from theoretical knowledge, hands-on training in the store and and auditory feedback.

We are on a continuous quest to offer personal and professional development for all employees. Whether you have a passion for delivering great guest experiences, optimizing structures or delving into our amazing coffee universe. Whatever you choose, we will strive towards making it possible for you. We aim to help you succeed in every position you pursue by providing the necessary training and education.

We call it learn it - do it - own it.

Attensi

Most of our training is gamified through Attensi, providing an interactive, engaging, and fun environment with mini-games that impart essential knowledge and skills relevant to your work.

The training modules are designed based on the concept of ‘active learning.’ This means that you learn actively as you engage with the content. Passing a module on the first attempt is not expected. The purpose of this training approach is to encourage repeated attempts and learning from mistakes. So, don’t worry if you don’t pass on your first attempt – it’s intentional!

How to login?

  1. DOWNLOAD the Attensi Skills app from App Store or Google Play
  2. INSERT the company code: “Joe”
  3. LOG IN using your phone number
  4. Ready - Set - Play!

The Training Journey

The training in Attensi is divided into bite-sized training stages to make sure that the new hire doesn’t get overwhelmed and is learning at the right pace. Checkout the eight training stages below:

By focussing on learning the knowledge of each training theme one by one, we ensure the new hire has enough time and practice to digest the new learnings and put them into practice behind the counter, before moving on to the next training module.

The Training Stages

The first two training stages are a bit different than the rest as they aim to give a good introduction and onboarding to the general knowledge of the role and key procedures of being behind the counter.

Stage 1: Welcome to Joe

An introduction to the training journey, our history, and our virtues.

Stage 2: Before your first shift

An introduction to our guest experience concept Brand Behaviour and our important Hygiene procedures. These learnings are elementary no matter which work-station the new hire is starting their training at.

Stage 3-8: Food, Juice, Coffee, Till, Opening & Closing

The remaining of the training stages should be completed in line with our bite-sized training approach:

  1. Knowledge in Attensi - Build knowledge in Attensi
  2. Training On Top - Side by side with the in-store trainer, learnings recipes, tools and best practices
  3. Practice On Shift - Start practicing on their own, with the trainer close by to support
  4. Validation - Become validated in the training showing the right capabilities

This means that the new hire should complete the Attensi training stage, attend their practical training, have time to put their new learnings into practice on shift, and then be validated. Once they have passed their module validation, they will move on to the next training stage!

The Content

The content of each training stage varies, but below you can see the usual elements:

Videos

All videos have to be watched to the end before “certification”.

Skills

Gamified learning mini-games. This training is designed to promote learning through practice and repetition, so don’t be discouraged if you don’t succeed on your first try — that’s all part of the process!

Fast Course

A blended learning method with both visuals, text and minor questions along the way which is usually used to introduce larger pieces of information.

PDF

An overview with lots of information, usually utilised to gather all product recipes in one view

Checklist

A checklist to both sum up and sign off that the Juicer is confident in their training

Fast Exam

A small exam to ensure the new hire has retained the information they have learned during their training. The exam randomizes a number of questions from a question bank, so each test will be different. The Fast Exam should not be completed before the actual Validation Shift. It is the Juicer’s ticket to their validation showing that the’ve got the knowledge in place.

HAPPY TRAINING!

E-Campus serves as the encyclopedia of JOE, functioning as our internal and online educational platform where all JOE-related knowledge is consolidated. This includes our history, policies, guidelines, training materials, and much more. While most of our training is gamified through Attensi, e-Campus is always accessible for reviewing all training modules necessary to execute any procedure in the store.
