At JOE, we prioritize flexibility in your work schedule. Your guaranteed hours are outlined in your employment contract, ensuring you have a stable commitment each month. You also always have the option to take on additional shifts or swap shifts if you need extra time off. For more information on how to do this, please refer to the "Swap Shift" section.
Your work schedule is created at least one month in advance and can be viewed through “Shift Planning” on our internal platform, Workplanner. The shift plan for the upcoming period will be available on the 1st of each month, giving you a clear overview of your work commitments and allowing you to plan your personal time.
You can always request vacation and days off for various reasons, such as leisure, school, sports, birthdays, or vacations. It’s important to note that these are only requests and may not always be granted. Your manager will consider all requests and make fair decisions based on staffing needs, which means you could still receive a shift on the requested day if there’s no alternative coverage.
Requests for time off must be submitted in writing to your manager by the 15th of each month. This is also the date your manager receives the shift plan template for the following two months. For example, if you want a specific day off in July, you need to submit your request by May 15th.
If you need to modify your general availability or have any questions about your schedule, please feel free to reach out to your manager.

You are required to clock in and out of each shift using a designated iPad behind the bar. You must only clock in once you are ready to start your shift and clock out when you go off duty. You are also required to clock out any time you leave the work site for any reason other than assigned work duties.
The purpose of our clock in/out system is to accurately record your attendance at the start and end of each shift. The final clock ins will be the base of the final compensation paid, capturing any recorded lateness or additional hours worked.
You are only expected to work your scheduled hours, or the hours planned and approved by your manager. Unless permission to do otherwise, you may not clock in more than 7 minutes prior to, or 7 minutes after, the start of your shift.
Please note that clocking in/out for other employees is not allowed.
For the avoidance of doubt you can read our Code of Coduct here.
The Shift Marketplace on Workplanner is your go-to place for swapping shifts, whether you want to take one additional shifts or swap shifts to get additional time off. All shift swaps must be approved by a manager and are not final until the manager of the specific bar has approved the swap.
